
Call for applications: International Chairs
– 2026 –
The Mathematics in Interaction Research Programme (PEPR Maths-Vives) is launching its second call for applications for international chairs, aimed at welcoming internationally renowned female and male academic researchers residing abroad. This call is part of an initiative to promote international cooperation and strengthen knowledge sharing. It aims to foster collaborations between world-renowned researchers and our French teams, within the framework of projects with significant scientific impact.
The supported projects will aim to explore the interactions between mathematics and the life sciences, environmental sciences or social sciences, thereby contributing to addressing major scientific and societal challenges.

Context
The Interdisciplinary Mathematics Research Programme (PEPR Maths-Vives) aims to develop and strengthen links between mathematics and other scientific fields, particularly the life sciences, environmental sciences and social sciences. This programme is part of a multidisciplinary collaborative effort designed to address current scientific and societal challenges.

- Guest Speaker:
- Be employed by a foreign research or higher education institution.
- Work in a field related to the programme’s scientific scope: interactions between mathematics and the life sciences, environmental sciences, or social sciences.
- Host team:
- The guest may belong to a different discipline from that of the host.
- Alternatively, the host team may include at least two scientists from different disciplines, one of whom must be a mathematician.
The guest speaker undertakes to:
- mention and cite the PEPR Maths-Vives, as well as its logo, in all scientific work and publications resulting from the invitation.
- The duration of stays is flexible and ranges from 1 to 5 months, depending on the needs and specific details of the projects submitted.
- The programme only provides funding for stays of at least one month.
- The salary is determined on the basis of the visiting scholar’s experience, with a maximum of €3,860 net per month.
- A lump-sum allowance of €1,000 per month is also provided to cover costs related to the project’s scientific environment.
- Accommodation and travel expenses are the responsibility of the visiting scholar and are to be covered by the allowance provided.
The application dossier, written in French or English, must be submitted by the hosting team and must include:
- The application form, to be completed online (https://plmsurvey.math.cnrs.fr/index.php/675695?lang=fr), comprising:
- Administrative details:
- Host laboratory;
- Email addresses of the supervisors and the unit’s administrative manager;
- Duration and planned dates of the visit.
- Detailed scientific project:
- Research or teaching topic;
- Planned activities (lectures, classes, seminars, etc.);
- Expected scientific or educational impact.
- Administrative details:
- Full CV of the candidate (including a list of publications) to be submitted via the online form;
- Short CV of each member of the supervising team to be submitted via the online form.
Applications will be assessed by the PEPR Maths-Vives Programme Committee. The application assessment process is based on the project’s alignment with the objectives of the call. Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- Quality of the application: A clear and detailed presentation of the project and its scientific objectives.
- Quality of the candidate’s background: Academic and scientific experience, as well as past achievements.
- Programme objectives: Alignment of the project with the programme’s priorities, in particular the interactions between mathematics, life sciences, environmental sciences and social sciences.
- Impact on the host team and benefits for the PEPR.
Applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis, and assessments are carried out according to a recurring schedule:
- End of January 2026: Applications must be submitted by Thursday 15 January 2026.
- End of May 2026: Applications must be submitted by Friday 15 May 2026.
- End of September 2026: Applications must be submitted by Tuesday 15 September 2026.
